The Italian label launched its first collection aimed at its Muslim consumers with a range of abayas and hijabs in its signature colourful prints.
The garments, while engineered for modesty, have all the flair of any other Dolce & Gabbana collection—a little jewel-encrusted lemon here, some black lace trim there.
The abaya collection, according to the brand celebrates ‘the allure of the middle east’ with a line of abayas and hijabs.
This kind of collection is new for D&B, but it’s not the first fashion brand to do it. Tommy Hilfiger, Oscar de la Renta, DKNY, H&M, Net-a-Porter, and Monique Lhuillier have all put out hijab lines for Muslim women in the last few years.
The collection goes on sale this month in all Dolce&Gabbana boutiques in the Middle East as well and in Paris and London.
