For those of you who don’t know, there once was a man named Mehran Karimi Nessari who lived in an airport terminal for 17 years!
He was not their by choice, his papers had gotten lost or stolen while he was at the airport, and then he was never allowed to leave. A movie, called The Terminal, was actually made on him too.
Similar to Mehran, 23-year-old student from Stuttgart Germany lives on a train! Leonie Muller frustrated with soaring rent wages in Germany decided to start living on a train.
She finds it cheaper than living in her apartment and saves £50 a month. She also finds it easier to visit her boyfriend and maintain her long distance relationship with him,
“Normally, we would have to have a long-distance relationship. But living on a train enables me to see him all the time.”
“I really feel at home and I can visit so many more friends and cities. It’s like being on vacation all the time. I read, I write, I look out of the window and I meet nice people all the time. There’s always something to do on trains.”
She studies on the train and even washes her hair in the bathroom.
Now, Leonie is documenting her time on the train and her nomadic life-style:
“I want to inspire people to question their habits and the things they consider to be normal. The next adventure is waiting just around the corner if you want to find it.”
You can follow Leonie’s blog here and find out more about her.
Would you be able to live the life style she’s living?
