10 Tips To Not Lose Your Temper While You Are Fasting

Yesterday as I was travelling home from work I must have seen up to 5 people arguing on the road. It’s somewhat understandable you’re hungry, thirsty and the guy in front of you either isn’t making your life easier. It’s natural to get mad but it isn’t cool to lose your temper during your Roza

Here are some tips to control yourself when you’re getting mad during your Fast:

1. BREATHE!

Take some huge deep breaths, calm yourself down get more oxygen to your brain to make you realise there is no point in getting angry and losing control. Deep breaths also trigger a relaxation response in the body.

2. Body scan

After taking deep breaths do a body scan. Scan your own body think from your toes to your calfs all the way up to your shoulders and neck. Find some areas in your body which might be tense or tight. It could be your shoulders, or your jaw. Massage that area loosen it up and relax.

3. Head massage

Give yourself a head massage. Massage the side of your forehead, it’ll feel good and help you relax and calm down.

4. Stretch

The fastest way to change negative feelings is by changing your position. Either stretch, walk around or look up. Looking up will interrupt our negative thought pattern.

5. Holding your middle finger

No, don’t show your middle finger to anyone instead holding it will relieve anger. Watch this video to find out more

6. Think long term

When you’re getting angry about something think, will this matter to me in a week? a month? next year? The answer will most probably be no. So let it go.

7. Sit down

Our Holy Prophet(PBUH) said “If one of you is angry when he is standing, let him sit down so that the anger will leave him. Otherwise, let him lie down”

8. Smile

When you smile your body is automatically tricked into improving your mood. So the next time you’re feeling angry, smile.

9. Be thankful

Stuck in traffic? Atleast you’re in a car with an AC. Don’t have an AC? Atleast you’re in a car. Don’t have a car? Atleast you have a mode of transport like your bike. You should be thankful for what you have, it’s the best way to think of others short comings and who’s going to get angry at other people’s short comings.

10. Be prepared

You know that when you’re going to leave the office people will be driving like maniacs. no.1 don’t drive like a maniac. No.2 Know that people will be driving like mad men and be prepared to face them while driving
