Desi girls have a thing for Mehndi. Be it Eid or weddings, happy occasion are complete without mehndi. While the end result is beautiful, the process of getting the perfect dark tattoo is not easy. Here’s what happens when a desi girl gets a henna tattoo:

1. You hope that the mehndi wali makes a beautiful tattoo and doesn’t screw it up

2. You make special efforts not to move or you will mess your tattoo up

3. You wait impatiently for the mehndi wali to complete making the intricate designs before you can see the final result.

4. Once the design is complete, you sit down at a safe place where no one comes near you to make sure your mehndi dries properly

5. You can’t eat or drink with your own hands - you need help

6. You have to hold your pee because you can’t go to the loo

7. Boys ask you to stay away from them because they hate the smell of mehndi

8. “Lemon lagao”, “Vicks lagao” - Everyone tells you totkas to get a darker colour

9. You keep the mehndi overnight to get a darker hue

10. But you can’t sleep because you fear you will put your hand on your face and the mehndi pattern will be printed on your face

11. When you wake up in the morning, you check your palms to see whether the mehndi looks pretty or not

12. You wash your hands less because you want it to stay longer
