Acting on a complaint filed by a 24-year-old woman, who is also a resident of the society, the Versova Police registered a First Information Report against Nawazuddin Siddiqui under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code, an official said.

The complainant said that her 24-year-old daughter had been manhandled by the actor, his brother and support staff on Sunday afternoon. “Our society has been having a dispute with Nawazuddin who started staying in our society nearly a year back, since he had completely occupied the parking space of the building. Today, when my daughter went to click photographs of the actor again occupying the parking space, he along with his brother and support staff manhandled her and physically pushed her,” the complainant told The Indian Express.

Despite repeated attempts, the actor could not be reached for a comment, but his manager, Anup Pandey, denied the charge. “It is a false case. The case has been registered without investigation. It is a society issue which has been going on for a long time,” Pandey told PTI. “There was an argument, but no hathaa-pai (exchange of physical blows) as claimed in the complaint. We will take the matters up.”
