I was shocked when I heard about the frequent robberies taking place at Dolmen City Mall in Clifton, Karachi, especially since I often visit the mall with my family and friends. You are bound to come across people of all ages and professions who frequently visit the mall for various purposes.

So when I heard about the woman clad in a black chaddar who was “accidently” (read: purposely) bumping into people at the mall and stealing their wallets, purses and other valuable belongings, I was shocked and horrified.

This is not the first time such an incident has taken place at Dolmen City Mall. In 2013, three men tried entering the shopping mall but when the guard did not let them enter, they opened fire, injuring a woman and the guard in the process. Before they escaped, the armed men even managed to steal a car.

We shouldn’t be asking why such incidents are taking place, rather who is responsible for all these crime-related incidents.
