Kevin Abosch confirmed that he had sold the photograph of an organic potato shot on a black background to a European businessman, who was interested to buying it when he saw it in the photographer’s home in Paris.

Abosch told the Sunday Times:

“It’s not the first time that someone has bought the art right off my wall.”

Abosch took the picture of Irish potato back in 2010 and made three prints of it. One print is in his private collection, another was donated to an art museum in Serbia and the third was sold to the businessman.

“I see commonalities between humans and potatoes that speak to our relationship as individuals within a collective species. Generally, the life of a harvested potato is violent and taken for granted. I use the potato as a proxy for the ontological study of the human experience.”

Abosch is also famous for a picture of John Christopher “Johnny Depp” he took, which he told the actor would make him famous.
