Parts of Karachi plunged into darkness in the early hours of Friday night, as a high-tension 500KV backup power line tripped near Jamshoro.
The areas affected by the sudden power outage includes New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sadar, Bahadurabad, Federal B Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, I. I. Chundrigar Road, Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Buffer Zone, Nazimabad, North Karachi, Liaquatabad, Defence and Shadman.
According to K-Electric officials:
“The power breakdown was caused due to tripping in the extra high tension wire of 500KV. A team has been sent to repair the backup power line which is essential for the restoration of electricity.”
