Norway’s Immigration Minister Jumps In The Aegean Sea To Understand The Experience of Refugees
Published: Apr 25, 2024

Norway’s immigration minister, Sylvi Listhaug has jumped into the Aegean Sea and been “rescued” in what she said was an effort to understand the experience of refugees.

According to the latest United Nations figures, more than 760 refugees and migrants have drowned so far this year in desperate attempts to cross to Greece and Italy.

Ms Listhaug described the experience of the mock rescue as “very special” while acknowledging the work of Norwegian rescue teams. She was invited by the rescue teams for this stunt.

But several people called this attempt as ridiculous and making fun of the refugees. Because a mock rescue is far away from the reality the refugees face.
