In the past month, a right-wing social activist group called Shiv Sena, in India, has made it clear that they are not huge fans of Pakistani actors, cricketers or our movies.
It’s sad because, recently, we’ve been making some really great movies but they just don’t seem convinced.
They even went as far as to threaten our cricket players and actors… Talk about being too serious in life - gosh.
Here’s what they had to say:
“We have taken a stand not to allow any Pakistani actor, cricketer or performer to step on Maharashtra soil,”
“We are not really bothered about who is signing these Pakistanis in their films. Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Shah Rukh Khan etc are responsible citizens and they should not cast Pakistanis in their film.”
I will hold my personal comment here.
Anyway, they threatened our beloved Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan for promoting their movies in Mumbai.
Mahira, took the threat as a Bollywood Halloween prank and responded with this picture:
This is what King Khan had to say about Mahira Khan
This is what he had to say on the matter,
“It is stupid… It is stupid to be intolerant and this is our biggest issue, not just an issue… Religious intolerance and not being secular in this country is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot. People put words into the air even before thinking and here is a secular country. Here’s a country perhaps for the last 10 years that is on the cusp of going beyond what we think.”
We’re sure he even looked like this while saying it,
After which Sadhvi Prachi, another right-wing social activist, called Shahrukh Khan a “Pakistani agent”!
Dammit! How did they find out? A man who has lived in India all his life and is the most famous Indian actor in the world is a Pakistani agent!
She said:
“By talking about returning the awards (including Padma Shri) he has committed treason. He should be punished for this. Not only Shah Rukh Khan but all those who have returned their awards should be tried for treason,”
She makes a sound argument…. for a crazy woman.
But there is always a silver lining in every storm and thankfully for us that silver lining came in two competitors supporting each other.
That’s right! Salman Khan came to his brother’s rescue,
When asked about Shahrukh Khan being a Pakistani agent Salman said:
“AAP KHUD SOCHO. WE ALL ARE HERE, DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE? WHO IS SITTING HERE, DOES IT MATTER TO YOU? YOU ASKED ME A QUESTION. IT DID NOT MATTER. WE ALL ARE INDIANS”
Or are they?
Whatever the case the whole issue seems silly. It’s strange that political parties are getting involved with the entertainment industry. India should really step up it’s tolerance game and stop acting crazy!
We’re just hoping for a Karan-Arjun part 2! Hopefully, Shahrukh and Salman won’t be this awkward together.
