We have gone all the way to the moon and and back - literally - and Mars too, but handling a “relationship” is rocket science for Desi people!

Here’s how a desi relationship works:

When you look at them for the first time

And you let your eyes do the talking

When you talk to them for the first time

And then just can’t stop talking to them

When all you can think of is LOOOOOOVE

But cry when you say it for the first time

When you wait for hours just to get one glimpse of them

But take ages to dress up for that one moment with them

When you go out with them for the first time

And you are afraid that you will be caught by a random Rishtedar

When you hold their hand for the first time

And you receive/send your first V-Day gift

When you have your first fight

And go out of your way to make up for it

When you stay up all night and whisper love vows to each other

And you plan your wedding day, the colour of the lehnga, the menu and the theme

And you even pick your dream honeymoon spot

But then your parents finally find out about your relationship

Then the devil, oops, I mean the Rishta Aunty visits your parents

And you or bae have to marry someone else

What you lookin’ for? There ain’t no happy ending here! Tough luck, kids.
