Recently it came to our attention that a particular restaurant in Islamabad called Table No 5 has been advertising itself through sexist and misogynistic comments against women.

They’ve been using pictures such as these to promote their page:

A screenshot of their Sandwich menu consists of men who have either abused women or been convicted of rape. Very classy. The image has since been removed from their page.

Girls At Dhabbas were quick to condemn this restaurant and point out some very valid (and obvious) reasons why their advertising is bad.

In an attempt to apologise and clarify their sexist views they come off as even more misogynistic,

They even take pride in all their negative reviews from women,

And when they receive a response they don’t particularly like, they call it an over-reaction,

This is what they had to say when people pointed out that their sexist and misogynistic posts were offensive,

Table No 5 may think that sexism is funny and that it’s a harmless joke being used to promote their restaurant, they are highly mistaken. Bad publicity, is definitely not the best way to get customers. #MajorFail

In a country where a rape victims burn themselves alive after being denied justice, or where literacy is one of the lowest, especially in women, due to their parents not allowing them to study, and where women are attacked with acid for refusing suitors, this promotional campaign is NOT a joke. It is NOT acceptable.

It is NOT okay to use sexism as a marketing gimic.
